Is
Classroom Walk-Through used to evaluate me?
No.
Classroom Walk-Through is not used to evaluate teachers. The
purpose of CWT
is to help principals and assistant principals become more effective
instructional leaders.
It provides them with a structure for seeing the important
elements of effective instruction
and tools for capturing information about patterns of instruction
throughout their school.
The information they gather as they walk through classrooms
becomes a focus for reflection
and dialog with teachers about instruction.
Where
did Classroom Walk-Through come from?
The actual
program was developed by a group called Learning 24/7.
The impetus for being involved came about through the State of
Florida’s Developing
Educational Leaders for Tomorrow’s Achievers (DELTA) Program. Leon
County sent
two principals to the State’s Training of CWT Trainers in the Spring
of 2005. It became
clear that CWT was well aligned with the national focus on instructional
leadership and
research based instructional practices, so the District Leadership Team
committed to
implementing the system beginning in the 2005-2006 school year.
Who
are the Leon County CWT trainers?
Michelle
Gayle, Principal of Griffin Middle School and Christi Moss, Principal of
Chaires Elementary School were trained to be Classroom Walk-through
through the
Florida Department of Education. The
have trained all Leon County Principals,
Assistant Principals, and many District Administrators.
